Overcome fear of missing out: FOMO to JOMO via Sturgeon's law
We all have succumbed to the fear of missing out or FOMO. There are times we have to miss out on things to be able to focus on ourselves an our life. I stumbled upon the not so well known Sturgeon's Law. Sturgeon's Law gave me a simple tactic to deal with the fear or missing out (FOMO). Sturgeon's Law helps you convert the fear of missing out (FOMO) to the joy of missing out (JOMO).
Getting to know about Sturgeon's Law made life so simple. There need not be any fear of missing out. If 90% of everything I miss is crap then instead of the fear of missing out crap there needs to be a joy of missing out (JOMO). We need to enjoy and rejoice that we have filtered out such a huge amount of crap out of our life. A life with less crap is definitely going to be a beautiful life.
Learning about the joy of missing out (JOMO) has made it very easy for me to say no to things. It helped me not to exist on social media. It helped me to avoid consuming news and media.
JOMO can helps focus on things which are important to us. It helps us avoid not wasting our time, energy on attention on things which
are distracting us. The joy of missing out is a simple tactic to help us live our life in the real world. It helps us avoid distraction of the virtual world on social media and the noise on the internet.
The joy of missing out JOMO will help us realize the importance of living a real life in the real world. To experience the joy of missing out (JOMO) one has to relearn the art of living outside of our phones and devices.
