Predicting our future
Seeking to predict your future? I have seven predictions for my future. You too can predict your future. The predictions have held true in the past and don’t expect them to change. Learn these rules of prediction and predict your future. Now that you can predict your future, you can work on your present to shape a great future..
1. What is weak will break over time
You don’t eat well, smoke, abuse substances, don't exercise and not take care of yourself. You will get into trouble with your health later on
If you are financially fragile. You will get into financial trouble
It does not imply – What is strong will not break
You eat well, don’t smoke, don’t abuse substances, exercise and take care of yourself. No guarantees that disease will not bother you.
If you are financially strong. You can still get into financial trouble
2. Habits will compoundYour small but good habits will save you trouble (no guarantee of benefit)
You small but bad habits will ensure that you get into trouble
3. Actions will shape the future
What you do today will shape your future
A stitch in time will save you nine.
4. Inaction's will shape the future
What you don’t do today will also shape your future
Absence of a stitch in time will create the need for nine.
5. Today is a predictor to your future
We are path dependent .... yesterday was an input to your today
We blame our childhood for the ills of today
What you are today is an outcome of your past
Your today can be traced to events from years ago
Your future will also be traced by the events of today
6. What has survived will thrive
We are creatures of habit
If your habit of working hard has survived over time ... then you can expect it to continue
If your habit of being lazy has continued over time... then your laziness will not disappear
7. Friction will not reduce
The friction in maintaining the good will not reduce
The friction in changing the bad will not reduce
If this is how our future looks like, then we have some to do something about it. If we like the future its building, we need to nurture our future from today. However, if we don’t like the future shaping up then we need to create it the way we want to. Our history (past) and geography (where we are today) need not be an indicator of our destiny (future).
